Time Trodden
Time Trodden is a 2D top-down adventure built with Phaser. Explore a world where time itself has fractured, forcing you to fight, puzzle-solve, and scavenge for answers. If you can’t restore time before it unravels, nothing else will matter.
Fractured Timeline
Time Trodden takes you through labs, dungeons, and beyond—each area layered with story bits, strange enemy types, and hidden paths. The environment begs you to explore, but the clock is ticking. Broken pockets of time create weird anomalies, so you’ll need to stay sharp. Tinker with power-ups, fend off scientists or abominations. A final boss guards the secret to repairing time; fail there, and time will slip away.
Development
Below are snapshots of some memorable highlights during creating the game. We use a custom Phaser engine to support our collisions.

Basic Movement & Camera. Our first milestone was getting the player moving around on a tile-based map with a smooth camera follow.

Enemy Mechanics & Player Health. Introducing hostile creatures forced us to implement health bars, attacks, and enemy AI.

Stair Collisions. We tweaked hitboxes and fiddled with collision layers to fix unclimbable stairs- hoodwinking Phaser's tiles.

Another angle of that same fix, showing impossibly smooth (non-tile) colliders in Phaser!

Puzzles! We introduced multi-layer puzzles, with timed button sequences, locked doors, and tutorial sequences to help players learn the ropes.
Conclusion
Time Trodden is a broken world waiting for you to fix it. We enjoyed making the game with full working multiplayer (up to 3 friends), custom collisions, puzzle-based progression, and boss fights, which challenge you to pay attention to the world around you!
Built by Alyssa, Angela, and Ryan. We hammered away at movement, collision, and puzzle states to bring you a playable story of fractured time. We hope you enjoy it—explore, fight, and puzzle your way through this fractured realm. The clock’s ticking, so jump in anytime!
