ACRC (Austin Community Reinvestment Co-op)

The Austin Community Reinvestment Co-op is a nonprofit organization that advocates for alternative urban housing arrangements. They connect people seeking cooperative-style living with the resources and support needed to form sustainable and inclusive living spaces.

ACRC approached me to develop a custom website using Flask to manage their members and present organizational data in a dashboard. The website includes a login system, member management, and a database to store information about their housing projects. By making ACRC's code open-source, we hope to inspire other communities to build their own codebases easily and support the growth of cooperative housing.

WHY FLASK?

Flask is a Python-based web server, which lets us easily create dynamic content (i.e. logins) and integrate backend services (like databases), without a subscription to a third-party service. This is crucial for ACRC, as community-run also meant they want to run their own servers.
